General Electric made,
weight : 45 Tons and it belongs to Jindal Power & Steel Mill.
Scope of work : complete rewinding of the armature with newly manufactured coils, testing, balancing and commissioning.
As this machine was manufactured 50 years ago, the OEM used class B insulation.
Our Work
We at RKEWW re-designed and enhanced the insulation scheme to Class H.
New coils were manufactured using Class H insulated electrolytic copper and all the electrical test were conducted on individual coils prior winding.
These coils were placed in the armature slots and upon wedging, the end winding was TIG welded to the commutator risers. Resi-Glass bindings were applied under high tension after successful completion of the Drop test.
The armature is pre-heated, dipped in the Class ‘H” varnish and cured under 180C. Final testing and Dynamic Balancing was conducted to ensure that the armature is free from both electrical and mechanical issues. The entire job was done within 45 days upon arrival of the armature at our works.
