Our Story
Ramakrishna Electrical Winding Works (RKELC) traces its origins to 1950 in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, when it was founded by Late Sree P. Kanaka Raju, a visionary technocrat and entrepreneur. With deep expertise in electrical engineering and strong business acumen, he established RKELC as a trusted one-stop solution for electrical machines, built on quality craftsmanship and technical excellence.
Today, RKELC is guided by the third generation of leadership, led by Mr. P. Kanaka Raju and Mr. P. Krishna Prasad, who continue to uphold the founding values of innovation, integrity, and service excellence. Under their leadership, the company has evolved into a diversified organization spanning manufacturing, servicing, and spares trading, while successfully serving customers across global markets.

The Spark
Late Sree P. Kanaka Raju began exploring electrical machine repair as a personal pursuit at home, igniting a lifelong journey in electrical engineering.
1950
Journey Begins
Operations commenced as a family-run electrical workshop, translating hands-on expertise into structured services.
1985
Formal Foundation
Formal ground was broken and Unit 1 was established, marking the official registration of the enterprise and the transition to organized manufacturing operations.
1990–1995
Portfolio Expansion
Unit 2 was commissioned, adding transformer repair and servicing to our core capabilities.

ISO Certification

International Expansion

2009
Defense Contract
Marked a significant milestone with the award of a prestigious HSL contract for the major refit of INS Sindhukirti submarine.
2011
Wind Generator Coils
Achieved a key milestone by commencing serial production of 1.5 MW wind generator coils for ReGen Powertech, supporting large-scale wind power deployment.
2015
Partnership
Strategic partnership with AGG/TOSHIBA, with certified capability for repairs and rewinds of hydrogen-cooled steam generators up to 700 MW.
2016
Hydrogen-Cooled Generator
Successfully executed the first major repair/rewind of a 300 MW, 22 kV, 3000 RPM machine in the Middle East.
2022
State-of-the-Art Facility
Commissioned a modern manufacturing facility with BARTECH coil assembly line and testing facility (Unit 2 Expansion).
2024
ABB Partnership
Strategic partnership with ABB India to carry out Repair & Rewind of electrical machines.
